Understanding Go1 Course Structure

The article explains how to structure courses in Go1 using modules and different content types.

Updated yesterday

Go1 provides a streamlined and flexible interface for creating and organizing learning content. Understanding the course structure is crucial for administrators, content creators, and trainers to deliver engaging and well-structured learning experiences. This article provides a breakdown of how the Go1 course structure is organized, using a sample module from the platform.

Course Layout Overview

Each Go1 course can consist of a single module or be divided into multiple modules, with each module containing a variety of content types. The Structure tab enables course creators to design learning pathways by arranging different content formats in a sequence that promotes knowledge progression and keeps learners engaged.

Adding Content to a Module

Go1 allows you to customize each module by choosing from a variety of content types. Below the existing content in a module, there's an option: "What do you want to add?" Upon clicking, several content formats appear:

  • Event - lets you schedule activities like live webinars or workshops and track learner attendance. Typically, learners enroll in the event and attend the live session. An assessor or manager then marks them as "attended" to complete the event resource and contribute to overall course completion.

  • Text - allows you to create and format a rich text document directly within the platform.

  • Document - enables you to upload pre-made documents, such as PDFs, Word files, or other formats, to use as reading materials.

  • Interactive File allows you to upload SCORM or Tin Can (xAPI) packages, which are commonly used for eLearning. They also enable progress tracking, so you can see how learners interact with the content, how much they've completed, and their performance. This makes it ideal for creating engaging, measurable training modules within Go1.

  • Video - easily use videos in your training – upload your own or embed content from YouTube and Vimeo.

  • LTI Tool - Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is a type of resource used for integration with external learning tools.

  • Link - use the "Link" resource to embed external web content directly into your Go1 course. Instead of just linking, this embeds the external website's content. To receive credit for completing this resource, learners must manually click the "Complete" button located in the top-right corner.

  • Assignment - The "Assignment" resource in Go1 allows learners to submit their work for review. These submissions usually require manual evaluation by a course assessor. Administrators can also access and mark all submitted assignments, ensuring proper oversight and support.

  • Quiz - Evaluate learner knowledge using a variety of question types: multiple choice, matching, fill-in-the-blanks, and long answer. Long answer responses require manual grading by an assigned assessor; if none is assigned, an administrator can perform the assessment. Ensure learning objectives are consistently met with quizzes placed strategically throughout the course.

Final Thoughts

Go1’s course structure offers a powerful way to organize learning material. With modular flexibility and a variety of content options, it supports a wide range of educational goals. Understanding and effectively using this structure ensures learners receive content that is not only educational but also engaging and easy to follow.
