Quick Tips to Fix “Device Not Supported” or Loading Errors on iPhone and Android

Updated this week

What’s the issue?

Some users may see a “Device not supported” message or experience timeouts when loading content from certain content providers via the Go1 AWS AppStream application stack on smaller mobile devices such as iPhones or Android phones.
These issues usually happen because the mobile screen size reports an unsupported display width or prevents AppStream from starting the session correctly.

The library's filtering options let you check whether the content is available for later use on mobile devices and ensures it's optimized for a better user experience.

Why these issues occur

• Mobile phones report a much smaller “viewport width” than desktops, even if the phone has a high‑resolution screen.
• Safari and Chrome automatically shrink websites to fit mobile screens, which can make the viewport too narrow for AppStream.
• AppStream needs a minimum usable width to load desktop applications. If the viewport is too small, it shows “Device not supported.”
• Phone accessibility settings (like Display Zoom or larger text) can further reduce the reported width and trigger the error.
• Phones cannot expand their display beyond their physical size, even if the desktop app needs more space than the screen allows.
• Casting or mirroring your phone to a TV doesn’t help—the phone still reports its smaller viewport, so AppStream may continue to fail.
