Webinar: Nurturing Digital Learning Transformation

Explore frameworks that make it easier to speak to L&D value and demonstrate success

Updated over a week ago

This GoLearn Webinar occurred on Wednesday 6th December 2023.

In this session, we explored:

  • Knoster’s Change Management Framework for managing complex change

  • Examples of how to practically apply this Framework to boost the success of L&D programs

  • Stories and collaboration on some 'best practices' in leading change

Community Discussion and Go1 Resources

What sort of stories and strategies did we hear from our community around each element of successful change?

Vision

Is the connection between your L&D program and company vision clear?

  • Link L&D Goals to overall company objectives, outcomes or core values (check out some tips from our last webinar!)

  • Draft some clear 'what's in it for me' statements

  • Involve the C-suite in planning

  • Conduct periodic vision realignment and governance audits

  • Introduce learning expectations as part of new-joiner onboarding

Skills

Are there gaps in your employee knowledge and application?

  • Run office hours for informal questions on how to use tools

  • Survey your team on their preferred learning styles or current skill competencies to inform materials needed to jump the gap

  • Provide deadlines but allow learning to be self-paced

Motivation

Does your team know their engagement is valued?

  • Establish change champions or allies around the business

  • Create awards to celebrate engaged learners who model the type of behavior you want to see more often

  • Announce top learners in Town Hall meetings

  • Link learning to career progression

  • Gamify the challenge with learning leaderboards to stimulate competition and bring visibility to progress

  • Skill Building Hackathon: select 1-3 skills that will benefit the workforce and provide real world challenges for groups to work on. Have teams work together to share skills and knowledge

  • Learning Challenges and Prizes: create short learning challenges and create learning prizes (gift cards, free books, 30mins with CEO) to incentivize employees. This could be based on the organizations goals, values or specific skills.

Resources

Does your teams have the tools and time to achieve the vision?

  • Dedicate some time in regular team meetings to complete learning - you team will already have the time blocked out in their calendars and you can integrate learning into their day, rather than it becoming an extra task!

  • Create a central knowledge base (or even an FAQ) that helps people work through common frustrations or confusion

Action Plan

Do your people know why the learning is valuable and what’s next?

  • Create a visible training calendar so your team can see what's coming up next and establish continuity in learning (for example, at Go1 we produce 12 months of learning!)

  • Identify owners for your actions to make sure there is accountability to see tasks through and diffuse accountability for learning

How might you get started on these techniques?
