Highlight priority content with Spotlight

Learn how to promote important, strategic learning content on your homepage with Spotlight.

Updated this week

Note: Spotlight is available for Premium Essentials and Premium Pro customers.

Use Spotlight to promote strategic learning content directly on your learners' homepage. Unlike assignments, Spotlight creates visibility for important content while maintaining self-directed learning.

Spotlight displays your chosen content in the Hero carousel on the learner homepage. When you spotlight more than 9 items at a time, the system rotates which content appears, ensuring every spotlighted item gets visibility over time.

Content types you can spotlight

  • Playlists

  • Awards

  • Individual learning objects

What learners experience

Learners find spotlighted content in the Hero carousel section on the Go1 Learn homepage. The carousel automatically rotates content, so different items appear each time learners visit their homepage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do spotlight items rotate in the carousel?

Spotlight items refresh each time a learner loads or refreshes their homepage. If you have more than 9 spotlighted items, the system randomly selects which 9 appear from your total collection, ensuring learners see variety across their visits.

What's the maximum number of items I can spotlight?

You can spotlight up to 30 items total. These rotate through 9 available spotlight positions in the homepage carousel, with different items appearing each time learners visit their homepage.

Do spotlighted items disappear once learners enroll?

No, spotlighted content continues appearing in the carousel regardless of enrollment status.

How can I track engagement with my spotlighted content?

Spotlight-specific engagement tracking isn't available yet, though we're planning to provide these insights for admins in the future. For now, you can monitor individual content performance through existing reporting in MyGo1 to understand how your spotlighted items perform overall.

How do spotlights affect other carousel content?

The homepage carousel displays up to 12 items total: up to 9 spotlights plus 3-6 Go1 recommendations (trending, popular, and top picks). When you have fewer spotlights active, more space goes to Go1's algorithmic recommendations.

Can I schedule or remove spotlights in advance or target specific groups?

These capabilities are planned for future releases but aren't available currently. We're exploring options for both scheduling spotlights ahead of time or for a period of time, and targeting them to specific parts of your organization.

Can I spotlight content directly from my library?

This functionality is coming soon. You'll be able to spotlight items directly from both your library screen and full-screen content previews, making it easier to promote content during your curation workflow.
