When organizing content in Go1, you can choose between two main group formats: Courses and Playlists. Selecting the right format enhances the learner experience and supports your learning objectives.
Courses
Courses are structured collections of learning modules arranged in a specific sequence to guide learners through a clear learning journey.
Key Features:
Contains various content types (videos, documents, SCORM files, audio, quizzes, etc.)
Requires completion of all modules for course completion
Fully customizable structure (add, edit, delete modules)
Includes course-level metadata (title, summary, thumbnail, tags, learning outcomes)
Unique Characteristics:
Can be assigned, enrolled in, and tracked
Creates and enforces a structured learning path
Enables a complete end-to-end learning experience
When to Use Courses:
Creating content in Go1 from scratch
Combining existing media into a single structured item
When learners need to follow a specific path and complete all sections
Playlists
Playlists are unstructured collections of learning objects or courses curated from the Go1 library, ideal for grouping similar content.
Key Features:
Flexible organization of learning items
Can include unlimited items (including full courses)
Items can be arranged in any order
Simpler to create and manage
Unique Characteristics:
Cannot be assigned, enrolled in, or tracked
Don't appear in search results alongside individual content
Don't enforce learning sequences
Can include both individual learning items and full courses
When to Use Playlists:
When you already have published courses or learning items
For grouping similar content (e.g., three Food Handling courses)
When you want to curate themed content for your portal
By choosing the appropriate format based on your learning objectives and content structure, you can create more effective learning experiences for your users.
