What Are Search Categories?

Search Categories help you quickly browse and find learning content on Go1Learn by surfacing content grouped by popular topics, learning goals or themes.

The experience is curated to show what is newest and in-demand across the Go1 library, making it easier to hone in on the content you're looking for or explore new ideas.

How to Use Search Categories

  • Start from Search: From Go1Learn, click the Search tab on the left-hand menu.

  • Explore Categories: Scroll through the carousel of category tiles using the carousel arrows to find a topic that catches your interest.

  • Select a Category: Click on a tile to dive into learning content grouped under that theme.

  • See Tailored Results: You’ll land on a filtered view based on the category. From there, you can apply additional filters to refine your results even further.

Browsing Tips

  • Browse All Topics: Looking for something broader? Click Browse Topics at the top of the page to view the full Go1 library by topic. For more information on Go1's topic taxonomy visit here.

  • See All Categories: Want to explore all available categories? Just click View All Categories next to the carousel.

FAQs

What kinds of categories will I see?

Categories range from evergreen topics like Health & Safety, Change Management, and Emotional Intelligence, to sector-specific needs like Education and Training, Financial Services.

Our Categories will evolve based on user demand, content quality and trends.

Can I suggest a new category?

Yes. Below the Categories carousel, click Request a Category to let us know what you’re looking for. Your input helps us evolve the experience.

Can I remove or hide categories?

Currently, you can’t remove a category entirely from view but you soon have the ability to pin your favorite categories.

Will this replace traditional search?

No — Search Categories are designed to complement search. You can still use the search bar to find specific content across the full Go1 library.

Are Search Categories the same as Topics?

Not quite. While they often overlap, they serve different purposes:

  • Topics are part of a structured taxonomy — they follow a hierarchy used to classify content across the Go1 library (e.g. Safety & Compliance > Data Compliance > GDPR).

  • Search Categories are more flexible and curated — they’re designed around needs and behaviors, such as “Trending” or "Micro learning".

A topic can be a Search Category, but not every Category will be a topic.

I’m an organization that uploads my own content, can I access this in the Search Categories experience?

If your portal includes organization-uploaded content, you’ll see a dedicated category in the first row of the Search Categories experience. This category highlights all the content that has been uploaded to your portal.

Why does my Search Categories experience show little or no content?

The Search Categories experience relies on your portal’s library size to display relevant content. If your library contains a small number of items (e.g. fewer than 50), some categories or carousels may appear empty or be missing altogether. To get the most value from Search Categories, we recommend expanding your portal’s library to include a broader range of content.

How do I get access to Search Categories via an API?

We are in the product development phase to enable this experience via our APIs. Reach out to our Product team to provide feedback.
