Metadata guidelines for publishing to content on Go1

Enriching content with metadata gives your content the best chance of being discovered and consumed by learners on Go1. Content metadata is used in search and ranking to better match learners with the content that meets their needs. While content metadata such as the title, description and learning outcomes are used to help learners easily determine if the content is right for them.

Metadata

Guidelines

Title

The title of each learning item as it appears for learners.

  • Keep titles succinct so that learners can quickly see if the course is right for them

  • Capitalize the first letter of every word except words like “of” and “the”

  • Follow industry standards for capitalization, e.g. “SQL” or “JavaScript” instead of “Javascript”

  • Avoid including your company name in the title

Description

An overview of what the content is about and what learners can expect it to cover.

  • Explain your item in clear, plain language

  • Provide enough detail to describe your course without being too long. Between 50 - 150 words are ideal

  • Do not include any hyperlinks

  • Do not include information that can be included in other metadata fields, such as the duration or learning outcomes

Author

The author of the learning content. Authors will have edit access to the content.

  • Add the email of the user in the portal

  • The email must be associated with a Go1 account

  • When adding more than one author, separate emails with a semi-colon ;

Learning Outcomes

The skills or knowledge learners should expect to gain from completing the content

  • Minimum of 2 learning outcomes

  • Separate multiple learning outcomes with a semi-colon ;

  • Avoid including any introductory text before the outcomes, i.e. “What you’ll learn:”

Duration

The length of time the content should take a learner to complete.

  • Provide the duration in minutes, for example, “120”

Level

The level of difficulty of the content used to match learners with the content for their abilities.

  • Select from the following options:

    • Beginner

    • Intermediate

    • Advanced

    • Suitable for everyone

Topics

The topic area the content is related to.

  • Select at least 1 topic and 1 sub-topic from Go1s Topic Taxonomy

  • Choose the topic area that most closely matches your content

Image

The content image displayed to learners on the course card.

  • Recommended ratio 3:1

  • Maximum file size 10MB

  • Use lowercase file extensions e.g. "image_name.png"

Language

The primary language of the content.

  • Select the primary language of the content

  • Use either the language name e.g. English or ISO 639-1 Codes e.g. en

Locale

The regional accent or dialect of the audio in the content.

  • Select the locale(s) of the content

  • Separate multiple locales with a semi-colon ;

  • Select from the following options:

    • en-US

    • en-UK

    • en-AU

Region Relevance

The specific region for which the content is relevant.

  • Multi-select field

  • Separate multiple entries with a semi-colon ;

  • If the content is globally relevant, indicate GLOBAL

  • Select from the following options:

    • AU

    • CA

    • GB

    • MY

    • NZ

    • UAE

    • US

    • ZA

WCAG compliance

The content meets accessibility standards.

  • Content is compliant with WCAG 2.0A or equivalent standard

  • Indicate either:

    • True

    • False

Mobile optimisation

The content can be consumed on mobile.

  • Optimised for both iOS and Android

  • Indicate either:

    • True

    • False

Assessable

The content contains assessable modules where the learner receives a score or feedback.

  • Includes any quizzes, assessments or knowledge checks

  • Indicate either:

    • True

    • False

Tags

The keywords associated with the content.

  • Separate tags with a semi-colon ;

Year Created

The year the content was created.

  • Provide the year in YYYY format

Price

The price of the content.

  • Required when selling content directly to learners

  • Not required for Go1 Content Hub

Currency

The currency associated with the price of the content.

  • Required if the content has a price
