Understanding Why Your YouTube Link Isn't Working

Encountering issues with previously added YouTube links not working can be frustrating.

Due to a recent update by YouTube to their URL format, existing content containing old YouTube links may not play correctly in Go1. Here are steps to resolve this issue.

  1. Go to the affected Video Item

  2. Copy and paste it to a new browser

  3. Copy the top main URL as shown in image II or click on the Embed URL and copy from https:// until the end of the bracket as per highlighted in image III

  4. Paste the new URL to the Embed YouTube/Vimeo Column

  5. Save & Exit

Some other common reasons behind this problem and how to fix it.

1. Incorrect/updated URL: One of the most straightforward reasons for a YouTube link not working is an incorrect or updated URL. URLs are case-sensitive, so a small mistake in capitalization or spelling can lead to an error. Double-check the URL to ensure it matches the exact format required.

2. Video Privacy Settings: YouTube videos have privacy settings that can restrict who can view them. If the video's privacy setting is set to private or unlisted, users who don't have permission to view it won't be able to access it through the link. The uploader needs to adjust the privacy settings to ensure the video is accessible to the intended audience.

3. Video Removed or Deleted: If the YouTube video has been removed or deleted by the uploader, the link to that video will no longer work. In such cases, the uploader or content owner needs to re-upload the video or provide an alternative link.

4. Network Issues: Sometimes, connectivity issues or network restrictions can prevent YouTube links from loading properly. Check your internet connection and ensure that there are no network restrictions or firewall settings blocking access to YouTube.

5. Browser or Device Compatibility: Occasionally, YouTube links may not work due to compatibility issues with the browser or device being used. Ensure that your browser is up to date and supports the latest YouTube features and protocols.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Verify the URL: Double-check the YouTube link for accuracy.

  • Check Video Privacy Settings: Ensure the video's privacy settings allow for public or intended audience access.

  • Test on Different Devices/Browsers: Verify if the issue persists across different devices or browsers.

  • Clear Browser Cache: Clearing your browser's cache and cookies might resolve playback issues.

  • Update Browser: Ensure your browser is up to date.
