Edit an assignment

Change the name, due date, content, or recipients of an active or scheduled assignment.

Updated this week

Using MyGo1? If you're still on our legacy platform, see Edit assigned learning (MyGo1)

You can update in-progress and scheduled assignments to adjust details as your training needs change. Editable fields include the assignment name, due date and type, assigned content, and recipients.

Prerequisites

You'll need Manager, Content Admin, or Administrator permissions to edit assignments. Managers can only edit assignments they created.

Open an assignment for editing

  1. Navigate to Assignments from the left menu

  2. Select the assignment you want to edit from the In progress or Scheduled tab

  3. The assignment detail panel opens on the right

From here, you can edit any of the fields described below. Each change is saved independently — you don't need to update everything at once.

Rename an assignment

  1. Select the assignment name at the top of the detail panel

  2. Type the new name and hit the Return (or Enter) key on your keyboard

  3. The name saves automatically

Tip: Use a descriptive name that helps you and your learners understand the purpose of the assignment. For example, "Q1 2026 compliance refresher" is clearer than repeating the course title.

Change the due date or assignment type

  1. Select the edit icon (pencil) next to the due date

  2. Choose your assignment type:

    • Rolling due date — everyone gets the same amount of time from when they join the assignment

    • Fixed due date — everyone completes by the same date

    • No due date — learners set their own pace

  3. If you selected Fixed due date, enter the date. All dates are based on your portal's time zone.

  4. Select Update

ℹ️ Your assignment type determines whether new group members receive the assignment:

  • Fixed due date: New members added to the group after the assignment is created won't receive the assignment.

  • Rolling due date and No due date: New members added to the group will automatically receive the assignment.

If you switch from a rolling or no due date to a fixed due date, new group members will no longer receive the assignment going forward.
