Close an assignment

Stop an assignment from repeating or future group members from receiving an assignment.

Updated this week

Using MyGo1? If you're still on our legacy platform, see Remove content from a group (MyGo1)

You can close an assignment to prevent it from being sent to new learners. This is useful when a group assignment is no longer relevant for new joiners, or when a repeating assignment no longer needs to recur.

Closing an assignment does not affect learners who have already received it — their existing enrollment and progress remain intact.

Prerequisites

You'll need Manager, Content Admin, or Administrator permissions to close assignments. Managers can only close assignments they created.

When to close an assignment

Close an assignment when:

  • A group assignment should no longer be sent to new members who join the group

  • A repeating assignment should stop creating future iterations

ℹ️ You don't need to close an assignment that was sent to specific individuals with no repeat schedule — those assignments end naturally when learners complete the content or the due date passes.

Close an assignment

  1. Navigate to Assignments from the left menu

  2. Select the assignment you want to close from the In progress or Scheduled tab

  3. The assignment detail panel opens on the right

  4. Select Close assignment at the bottom of the panel

  5. Confirm the action

What happens when you close an assignment

  • Learners who already have the assignment can still access and complete it

  • New members added to assigned groups will not receive the assignment

  • Future iterations of repeating assignments will not be created

  • The assignment remains on the In progress tab so you can continue to monitor completion
