How setup works
Setting up the Morgan by Go1 assistant takes three steps. You'll likely need to involve one or two other people, but the process is straightforward and only needs to happen once.
Step | What happens | Who does it |
1. Install the app | The Morgan app is installed in your Microsoft Teams or Slack environment | Your IT team or workspace admin |
2. Grant permissions | The Morgan app is given read-only access to identify users and match them to Go1 accounts | Your IT team or workspace admin (Microsoft admin for Teams, Slack workspace admin for Slack) |
3. Connect your Go1 portal | The Morgan assistant is linked to your Go1 portal so it can access your content library and learner data | You (or whoever has Go1 Portal Admin access) |
Once all three steps are done, the Morgan assistant is live for your team members.
What you'll need from your IT team or workspace admin
The Morgan app is installed like any other workplace app in Teams or Slack. Your IT team or workspace admin will need to:
Approve and install the Morgan app from the Microsoft Teams app store or via a direct install link for Slack
Grant a small set of permissions so the Morgan assistant can identify users in your organization and match them to their Go1 accounts
Confirm the app is available to the right users or groups
This is a one-time setup. After initial approval, your IT or workspace admin doesn't need to manage the Morgan app on an ongoing basis.
To make this easy, we've prepared detailed technical guides your IT or workspace admin can follow step by step:
Install Morgan by Go1 in Microsoft Teams — for IT administrators managing Microsoft Teams
Install Morgan by Go1 in Slack — for Slack workspace administrators
Note: For Slack, your IT team will need a direct installation link to install the Morgan app — it's not available in the Slack App Directory. Contact your Go1 Customer Success Manager or Go1 support to request one, and share it with your IT team before they begin.
Tip: If your IT or workspace admin has questions about data access, security, or compliance before approving the install, the technical guides include a full breakdown of what the Morgan assistant does and doesn't access.
In short: the Morgan app uses read-only access to identify users, does not access emails, files, or messages, and does not use customer data to train AI models.
What you'll do
For your IT team to complete the install and permissions steps, as a Go1 portal admin you’ll need to help them to:
Connect your Go1 portal — open the Morgan app in Teams or Slack, select Connect Portal, and sign in with your Go1 admin credentials. This links the Morgan assistant to your content library and learner data.
Introduce the Morgan assistant to your team members — this is the step that makes the difference between learners engaging with the Morgan assistant and learners ignoring it.
How long does setup take?
For most organizations, the technical install takes under 30 minutes if the right people are available. The most common delay is waiting for approval of a new app from your IT or workspace admin, which varies by organization — some approve same-day, others have a review process that takes a week or two.
Our recommendation: send the technical guide to your IT or workspace admin as early as possible, so the approval process can run in the background while you prepare your rollout communications.
What happens after setup
Once the Morgan app is installed, connected to your Go1 portal, and your team members have been introduced:
Welcome message: Each learner receives a welcome message from the Morgan assistant in Teams or Slack, explaining what it can do and suggesting things to try.
Weekly digest: Every Monday at 9am (in your portal's local timezone), the Morgan assistant sends each learner a summary of their overdue, upcoming, and newly assigned learning. This is automatic — no setup required.
On-demand conversations: Learners can message the Morgan assistant at any time to ask questions about their assigned learning, check their progress, or discover new learning content.
There's nothing else you need to configure. The Morgan assistant runs automatically once the connection is active.
Teams, Slack, or both?
The Morgan assistant is available in both Microsoft Teams and Slack. You can install it in one or both, depending on what your organization uses. The experiences are slightly different across the two platforms, so if your team members use both, it's worth setting up the Morgan app in both.
Each platform requires its own install — the technical guides cover each one separately.
Note that each MS Teams or Slack workspace can connect to only one Go1 portal.
What if we don't use Teams or Slack?
The Morgan assistant is currently available in Microsoft Teams and Slack only. If your organization uses a different collaboration tool and you'd like to see the Morgan assistant there, let us know - contact your Go1 Customer Success Manager or contact Go1 support. We'd love to hear which tools matter most to you.
