Prerequisites
You'll need Administrator permissions to create groups.
Create a static group
Static groups let you hand-pick exactly who belongs in the group. This is a good option for small teams or project-based groups where you want precise control over membership.
Create a dynamic group
Dynamic groups use rules to automatically determine who belongs in the group. Membership updates in real time as user information changes — for example, when someone joins your organization or moves to a new department.
You can create a dynamic group using out rules builder, which as context of all your custom fields and user attributes.
Set up group rules
You define who should be in the group by creating conditions based on user attributes. Go1 Learn supports rules based on standard fields (such as department, job title, job level, division, country, and city) and any custom fields your organization has configured.
You can combine multiple conditions using:
ALL — Users must match all conditions (for example, "Department is Sales AND Country is Australia")
ANY — Users must match any condition (for example, "Job title is Manager OR Job level is Executive")
Use date-based rules
You can create rules based on when users started in your organization. This is useful for groups like "New starters in the last 30 days" that need to update on a rolling basis.
Date-based rules automatically recalculate, so users move in and out of the group as time passes — without any manual updates.
Preview membership before saving
Before you save a dynamic group, you can preview which users match your rules. This helps you confirm the group includes the right people before assigning any learning.
Create a group with AI assistance
If you'd prefer to describe your group in plain language, Go1 Learn can generate the rules for you. Instead of building conditions manually, you can type a description of who should be in the group and let AI translate it into rules.
For example, you could type:
"All engineers in the APAC region"
"New starters in sales from the last month"
"Marketing team managed by Sarah Chen"
Go1 Learn will suggest rules based on your description. You can review and adjust them before saving — the rule builder stays fully editable.
Note: AI-generated rules are always a starting point. Review the suggested rules carefully and adjust them if needed before saving your group.
