Create and publish an Immersive Simulation

Choose a template, tailor its scenario and scoring, test it, and publish.

Administrators can create an Immersive Simulation by choosing and tailoring a Go1 template. This guide explains how to tailor the scenario and scoring guide, calibrate and test the assessment, and publish the simulation.

All Immersive Simulations currently start from a Go1 template. Creating a simulation from scratch is not yet available.

Important: The AI uses the published scoring guide and any calibration input to assess real learner conversations. Changes to the behaviors, assessment criteria, or required behaviors directly affect learner outcomes and feedback.

Before you begin

You will need:

  • Access to Immersive Simulations

  • The appropriate administrator permissions

  • A topic and audience for the simulation

  • A clear understanding of the behaviors your organization expects learners to demonstrate

  • A relevant policy document, if you want to use one to tailor the scoring guide

Set up Personalization settings

Completing Personalization settings is optional, but recommended. The information you provide about your organization, industry, and workplace profiles helps make simulations more relevant to your organization.

You only need to complete these settings once. They are used to tailor simulations you create in the future, and you can update them as your organization’s information changes. Each individual simulation should still be reviewed and tailored before it is published.

From Simulations, select Personalization settings to review or update this information.

Create a simulation from a template

  1. In Go1 Learn, select Simulations.

  2. Select Create simulation or Browse all templates. Both options open the full template library.

  3. Browse or filter the templates by topic.

  4. Select a simulation template card to open its details.

  5. Review the scenario, intended audience, participant objectives, and related regulations.

  6. Select the available employee or supervisor version.

  7. Select Create simulation.

A draft is created for your organization. Your changes do not affect the original Go1 template.

Explore available simulation topics for a list of available templates, audiences, and jurisdictions.

Tailor the scenario

Review the content learners will receive before and during the conversation. You can tailor:

  • Scenario description: The workplace situation shown before the learner begins

  • Avatar relationship: Who the avatar is and their relationship to the learner

  • Opening line: The first thing the avatar says

Make sure the description gives learners enough information to understand their role and respond naturally. The relationship and opening line should remain consistent with the situation.

The avatar and character names are fixed for each template. You cannot currently replace the avatar or change the name of the avatar or other characters. Avoid introducing different character names when editing the scenario or opening line.

Select Next when you are ready to review the scoring guide. You can select Save & exit if you want to return to the draft later.

Tailor the scoring guide

The scoring guide defines the workplace behaviors that the AI assesses and the criteria it applies to each behavior. Every behavior receives an outcome and feedback, but only behaviors marked Required affect the learner’s overall outcome.

To review the scoring guide:

  1. Review the name and description of each behavior.

  2. Select See scoring to review its assessment criteria.

  3. Edit, add, or remove behaviors where needed. When adding a behavior, describe what you want the AI to draft, or select Or add manually.

  4. Mark a behavior Required only if the learner must demonstrate it to receive an overall outcome of Understanding demonstrated.

  5. Save your changes.

Review any AI-generated behavior and its assessment criteria before adding it to the scoring guide. Make sure it is observable, relevant to the situation, and fair for learners to demonstrate.

You can add up to five behaviors. However, we recommend assessing two to three behaviors in each simulation. Learners have up to six minutes and are responsible for driving an open-ended conversation. Adding too many behaviors can make it difficult for a learner to demonstrate every expectation naturally and fairly.

Use additional behaviors only when they are distinct and can realistically be demonstrated during the conversation.

See How AI assessment works in Immersive Simulations to learn how behaviors and required behaviors affect learner results.

Write criteria that can be assessed fairly

Assessment criteria should describe something the learner can demonstrate through the conversation. Learners should be able to demonstrate their understanding in their own words rather than follow a specific script.

When reviewing or writing criteria:

  • Describe the action, judgment, or response you expect.

  • Allow for different valid ways of demonstrating the same behavior.

  • Avoid requiring exact phrases, policy titles, legal terms, or specialist language unless they are essential.

  • Do not require information that is not available from the situation or that the learner could not reasonably know.

  • Keep each behavior focused on one distinct expectation.

  • Consider whether the conversation gives the learner a natural opportunity to demonstrate the behavior.

For example, the Bullying & Abusive Conduct template assesses whether the learner responds constructively after witnessing a colleague belittle another team member.

Criterion

Example

Why

Observable and fair

Takes at least one constructive action, such as naming the behavior, setting a boundary when appropriate and safe, or suggesting it should be raised through an appropriate workplace channel.

Assesses whether the learner takes constructive action while allowing several valid responses.

Overly rigid

States that the conduct breaches the organization’s anti-bullying policy, correctly defines abusive conduct, and uses the terms “hostile work environment” and “protected characteristic.”

Tests policy recall and exact terminology rather than the learner’s practical response. A learner could respond safely and appropriately without using these words.

Tip: Overly specific criteria may cause reasonable responses to be marked as Needs development and lead to unexpectedly low pass rates.

Tailor the scoring guide with a policy

You can upload a relevant organizational policy to help tailor the scoring guide.

Beta: The uploaded policy is used to identify guidance relevant to the simulation. A policy upload does not guarantee that the scoring guide will change.

To use a policy:

  1. From the scoring step, open the policy upload option.

  2. Select Upload policy or drag the file into the upload area.

  3. Upload a PDF or text file that is 10 MB or smaller.

  4. Wait while Go1 uploads and processes the policy.

  5. Review the resulting scoring guide carefully.

Depending on the policy, the AI may:

  • Amend criteria within an existing behavior

  • Add a new behavior when the policy introduces a relevant expectation

  • Make no changes when the policy is too broad, too generic, or does not apply to the situation

Review every change to make sure it is relevant, observable, and consistent with your organization’s expectations. If a behavior is added, consider whether the scoring guide still contains a reasonable number of behaviors for a six-minute conversation.

Policy-based tailoring does not replace organizational, legal, or compliance review. Your organization remains responsible for reviewing the scoring guide before publishing the simulation.

Calibrate the assessment

Calibration helps the AI apply the scoring guide consistently, particularly when a response is borderline or could reasonably be interpreted in different ways. The scoring guide remains the primary assessment instruction.

Calibration is optional, but we recommend completing it after you:

  • Edit assessment criteria

  • Add or remove a behavior

  • Change which behaviors are required

  • Use a policy to tailor the scoring guide

To calibrate the assessment:

  1. Select Start calibration.

  2. Review each AI-generated example response and its proposed verdict.

  3. Agree with the verdict or disagree and correct the relevant behavior outcomes.

  4. Complete each example to apply your feedback to scoring.

Apply the same expectations you want the AI to use when assessing real learners. If you change the scoring guide later, repeat the calibration so it remains aligned with the updated criteria.

Test, review, and publish

Before publishing, use the play button on the avatar to test the complete learner experience and confirm that the assessment reflects your expectations.

  1. Select the play button on the avatar to start the test experience.

  2. Complete one conversation with a response that should demonstrate the required behaviors.

  3. Complete one conversation with a response that should receive an overall outcome of Needs development.

  4. Review the overall outcome and feedback and each behavior-level outcome and feedback.

  5. If the results do not match your expectations, revise the scoring guide, repeat the calibration, and test again.

  6. Confirm the final simulation name. Learners will see this name when the simulation is assigned.

  7. Confirm that:

    • The scenario provides enough context.

    • The assessed behaviors can be demonstrated naturally.

    • Every required behavior is essential.

    • Any changes based on an uploaded policy have been reviewed.

    • Your test responses produced the expected outcomes and feedback.

  8. Select Publish simulation.

You will see a Simulation published confirmation when the simulation is ready to assign.

If the test experience does not open or work as expected, see Troubleshoot an Immersive Simulation.

After publishing

Publishing makes the simulation ready to assign. It does not assign the simulation automatically.

Unpublish a simulation

Unpublish a simulation if it should no longer be available for new assignments.

Using a partner LMS? Follow the steps below to unpublish the simulation in Go1 Learn. You must then follow your organization’s usual content-sync process to send the change to your LMS.

See the Remove a simulation from your LMS library section in Publish and assign an Immersive Simulation through your LMS for the complete workflow.

  1. In Go1 Learn, select Content.

  2. Open Created by us.

  3. Find the simulation learning item.

  4. Select More options (•••) at the end of its row.

  5. Select Unpublish, then confirm.

Unpublishing controls whether the simulation remains available for new assignments. Review and manage any active assignments separately from the Assignments page.

Troubleshoot simulation creation

Some creation steps use AI to draft or tailor content. If one of these steps does not complete, use the recovery option shown in Go1 Learn.

If this happens

What to do

Personalization settings do not load

Select Retry. If the issue continues, close and reopen Personalization settings.

Personalization settings do not save

Confirm that you have selected an industry and operating regions. When tailoring a simulation, also make sure you have selected or added a workplace profile. Then select Save and continue again.

The simulation does not finish tailoring with your Personalization settings

Allow the current process to finish. If an error remains, refresh the page and reopen the draft. Contact Go1 Support before creating another copy if the problem continues.

An AI-generated behavior does not appear

Keep your description in the Add behavior window and try generating it again. You can also select Or add manually and enter the behavior and assessment criteria yourself.

A policy upload is paused or does not complete

Select Retry when available to continue with the same policy. If Go1 Learn asks you to choose another file, upload another PDF or text file that is 10 MB or smaller.

A policy upload makes no changes

This does not necessarily indicate an error. The policy may be too broad, unrelated to the situation, or may not contain an expectation that needs to be added. You can tailor the scoring guide manually or upload a more relevant policy.

Calibration does not load or complete

Select Retry or Try again, depending on the option shown. If your feedback does not apply, submit it again. If the problem continues, select Skip for now and continue to preview the simulation. You can return and complete calibration before publishing.

If the issue continues, select Save & exit where available and contact Go1 Support. Include:

  • The simulation name

  • The creation step where the issue occurred

  • The error message

  • The approximate date and time

  • A screenshot of the error

Do not send your policy document to Go1 Support unless you are asked to provide it through an approved secure method.
