Managing user roles in Go1 involves understanding the permissions and processes for assigning roles such as Manager and Admin. This guide provides an overview of key workflows, prerequisites, and troubleshooting tips.
Overview of User Roles
Go1 supports several user roles, including:
Administrator: Full access to portal settings and user management.
Content Administrator: Limited permissions focused on content management.
Manager: Permissions to oversee assigned learners.
Learner: Basic access to learning content.
Prerequisites for Manager Role Assignment
Admins can assign the Manager role to users.
A user must already have the Manager role in the system before being assigned as a manager in a CSV import. Attempting to assign a non-Manager user as a manager in the CSV will result in errors.
Assigning Managers via CSV
To assign the Manager role using a CSV file:
In the CSV, set the "Roles" column to include "Manager" (e.g., LEARNER|MANAGER).
Upload the file to update roles.
To assign specific managers, add their email addresses to the "Managers" column, separated by a pipe character (|), and re-upload the file. For example: [email protected]|[email protected].
IMPORTANT:
Leaving the Managers column blank will clear the existing value.
Assigning Managers via Admin Tools
Admins can add a new manager without removing existing ones using the admin tools. In Go1 Learn – People, edit the user’s work details and add the new manager under “Managed by.”
Managing Multiple Managers
Go1 allows assigning multiple managers to a single user. This can be done via CSV import or admin tools. Ensure all managers are active users in the portal.
FAQs and Troubleshooting
Can an employee have more than one manager? Yes, multiple managers can be assigned to a single user. Use the CSV import method or admin tools to manage this.
By following these guidelines, you can effectively manage user roles and permissions in Go1.
